Editor's note
Shuchi Buch founded Taal Academy in 2015. It teaches Bollywood and classical Bharatanatyam, and takes its name from taal, the Hindi word for rhythm.
What to expect your first visit
- Register through the Bollywood or Bharatanatyam form on Taal's website, and choose a location: Tenleytown in DC, Takoma Park, or Columbia
- Bollywood has an Adults & Teens class. Bollywood Fit Dance is online only
- Adult Bharatanatyam beginners start in Basic Technique, which is online only
- The website doesn't post a schedule or rates, so email taalinfodc@gmail.com before your first class

What to expect
Taal Academy teaches Bollywood and classical Bharatanatyam to adults and children. Bharatanatyam students learn the history of the form along with its technique: facial expressions, hand gestures, body movement, rhythm and melody.
