McFadden Art Glass
Family-run Baltimore glass studio offering hands-on make-your-own glassblowing experiences, accessible to complete beginners.
Editor's note
McFadden Art Glass is in Baltimore, it requires a drive from DC (approximately 40–60 minutes depending on traffic). Sessions are guided make-your-own experiences rather than progressive classes. This is a good option for a one-time hands-on experience, not ongoing skill development.
New to this?
This studio welcomes beginners. No prior experience required.
What to expect your first visit
- Book in advance through mcfaddenartglass.com, sessions fill, especially on weekends
- Plan to drive; Baltimore has no Metro connection from DC
- Wear natural-fiber clothing, cotton or wool, closed-toe shoes. Avoid synthetic fabrics near the furnace
- All glass and tools are provided; you leave with what you make
Best for
Adults who want a single guided glassblowing experience, complete beginners welcome, no prior experience required.
What to expect
Sessions are guided make-your-own experiences where you work alongside an experienced glassblower who assists throughout. You participate in shaping and finishing a piece, the glassblower handles the more technical aspects. The focus is on the experience and taking home a finished object, not on learning independent technique.
Accessible and experience-focused. The format is closer to a guided activity than a traditional class, relaxed, hands-on, and oriented toward first-timers.
What to bring
Natural-fiber clothing (cotton or wool) and closed-toe shoes. No synthetic fabrics. All materials are provided.
