A structured 6-week beginner series for On2 salsa, progressive levels with partner rotation built in.

Editor's note

Baila DC is part of the DC region's active On2 salsa scene, connecting structured beginner instruction with a recurring Thursday social at La Cosecha in the Union Market District.

New to this?

This studio welcomes beginners. No prior experience required.

What to expect your first visit

  • Pre-register online for the 6-week Level 1A series, classes are progressive, not drop-in
  • No partner required; partners rotate during class
  • Wear smooth-soled shoes that pivot easily, sticky sneakers make turning difficult
  • After completing the series, the Baila Thursdays social is a natural next step to practice with other dancers

Best for

Adults new to salsa who want a structured, progressive course that leads directly into local Latin social dance events.

What to expect

Beginner series classes cover timing, musicality, basic steps, left and right turns, simple shines, and introductory partner work, building progressively over six weeks. The format is group-based with instructor-led drills and rotating partners, oriented toward social dancing comfort.

Social and technique-focused. The structured curriculum builds toward real social dancing, and the regular Thursday social at La Cosecha creates a clear path from classroom to dance floor.

What to bring

Comfortable smooth-soled shoes and a water bottle.
